**Meet Efren Corado Garcia** Born in Guatemala and raised in Southern California, Efren Corado Garcia brings a unique and vibrant perspective to Clean Slate Utah. As a first-generation immigrant, Efren has embraced many roles, from learning English and exploring his identity as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, to expressing his creativity as an artist. Efren’s journey led him to earn both his undergraduate degree from Chapman University and a Master of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Utah. He danced professionally with the Repertory Dance Theater, where he championed education, cultural inclusion, and diversity through performance. Before joining Clean Slate Utah, Efren served as the Diversity and Inclusion Officer for Salt Lake County Mayor Jenny Wilson, where he worked on policies and programs that aimed to make the county a more welcoming and inclusive place for everyone. His past experience also includes roles at the Salt Lake County Health Department as an Emergency Response Team Member, the Division of Arts and Culture, and Repertory Dance Theater. Efren has always been committed to giving back to his community. He has served on the boards of several nonprofits, including the Salt Lake Arts Council Foundation, Project Rainbow, Utah Parent Center, and Clean Slate Utah. In April 2024, Efren officially joined the Clean Slate Utah team as a case manager. He’s now focused on expanding Clean Slate’s Spanish services and supporting inclusive communication strategies to make sure everyone feels seen and heard. Efren’s passion for change and his belief in the power of inclusive systems drive his work. He’s here to help build a future where every community feels welcomed and empowered to thrive.
